Built to show the arithmetic

Each tool prints the formula it used next to the result, so an estimate can be checked by hand or carried into a spreadsheet. Defaults come from named sources, such as the OMB discount rate in the lifecycle cost calculator and a state DOT design bulletin for asphalt spread rates, and every one of them can be changed.

Nothing you enter leaves your browser. The self-assessment keeps your answers on your own device so you can return to a project, and the calculators keep nothing at all once the page closes. The articles each tool links to explain the engineering behind the numbers, starting with how lifecycle cost analysis works.
